Have you ever heard about “The Forest City”?
"Forest City" is the name of an incredible project by Stefano Boeri , an Italian architect. This particular city is located in Cina, in Liuzhou . This city is known for its pollution due to the overpopulation of cities. There are many buildings like offices, homes, hotels, hospitals, schools covered with trees and vegetation. Today the project has been completed and the "green" presence has brought some important changes, for example many animals are starting living in Liuzhou again. The GREEN city hosts about 30.000 inhabitants and thanks to the vast presence of vegetation, the production of oxygen has increased very quickly. The “new” Liuzhou is still linked to the “old” Liuzhou, but the two cities are very different from each other: “new” Liuzhou uses only renewable energy, consequently every house has solar panels on the roof.
But the most important thing is that geothermal energy is used as a sustainable source and as clean energy. The construction of this city has required lots of money, but the idea that there is a city that can support the environment should make us reflect on our daily actions, because if there is the need to create a city that produces more oxygen it means that the environment is in danger and we must be the change, just starting from small actions.
